Product Introduction
The deep cone thickener is a sewage treatment equipment used for solid-liquid separation. Its tank body typically has a circular or square shape in plan view. Sewage enters from the top through the central feed pipe, gets uniformly distributed by an umbrella-shaped baffle, then slowly rises upward. During this process, suspended solids settle at the bottom of the tank while clarified water overflows from the peripheral weir. Working principle
The working principle of deep cone thickeners is based on gravity sedimentation. Sewage flows downward at a controlled velocity (typically 0.5-0.7 mm/s), allowing suspended particles to settle under gravitational force. The specific particle dynamics are as follows:
When particle settling velocity (u) exceeds upward flow velocity (v), particles descend at the differential velocity (u-v) and are ultimately removed;
When u = v, particles remain suspended in equilibrium, neither ascending nor descending.
To enhance sedimentation efficiency, deep cone thickeners are typically designed with either a deep cone configuration or an increased tank depth to accelerate the settling process of suspended solids.
